Stabilizes the pH of a tinting solution.

After prolonged use, the normal pH of tint solutions may change from a neutral 7. This can be caused by caustic cleaning solutions used on the lens before tinting. Acid will attack and damage coatings. This change can cause some types of coatings to be weakened or partially removed during tinting.
