An invaluable aid for quality control of lenses that have received UV light absorption treatment. The instrument also measures luminous transmittance (Tv), the photopically weighted transmittance of the visible spectrum. It uses only Light Emitting Diodes as a light source -- no incandescent bulbs or mercury filled tubes. Since there is no bulb drift, the time between recalibrations is greatly increased. Also, since the light sources are only illuminated when a measurement is being taken, the meter consumes very little energy. Improved internal light paths and firmware reduce the measurement errors introduced by lens power and lens reflected room light.
